Lesson 3: Listen to the Introduction of this lesson!

Objectives: -brainstorm objects from classroom
- pick four objects for rhythm scene
- students will create "script" for their scene
- students will practice rhythms alone and with others

1. Your group has now picked where your Rhythm Scene is happening so now it is time to brainstorm items from your classroom that can be used to create rhythms. Brainstorm all of the objects that could be found in your classroom and add them to the Stoodle classroom link below. Once you have brainstormed, as a group circle the 4 that you want to use for your scenes.

2. Now that your group has figured our your objects for the scene, it is time to practice your rhythms. Each person should practice clapping and saying their rhythm alone. It is important that each person feels completely confident with their rhythm. After you have done this, try having two students put their rhythms together. This should be done by having one student start tapping their rhythm and continue tapping it over and over again. Once the other student feels the beat, they should come in tapping their rhythm. This is eventually how your entire group will be able to tap their rhythms at the same time. I will be coming around during class to help.

3. To show me that you have done this, you are going to use a website called Vocaroo to record your rhythms. In the recording you need to have: 1. every person in your group play their rhythm alone; 2. have groups of two put their rhythms together how you practiced it in activity two above. Watch the quick instructional video on how to use Vocaroo and then click on the link to get started on recording!

4. Your last activity for today is to create a small script that will start off your scene. Each person needs to have one line and the lines should set the stage for where you are and what is happening. Remember the rhythm scene we watched earlier? The lines do not need to be long but they need to help set the stage for your scene. View the example below and then add your groups lines below!
