Welcome to 6th Grade General Music!

Here is a little about me!

<img src="https://www.wikispaces.com/site/embedthumbnail/custom/28630203?h=0&w=0" class="WikiMedia WikiMediaCustom" id="wikitext@@media@@type="custom" key="28630203"" title="Custom Media"/>

Our first unit will be all about reviewing different rhythms that we have learned last year and we are going to create rhythm scenes to help us review. Here is a quick video overview of what will occur in this unit as well as the Lesson layouts below that.

<img src="https://www.wikispaces.com/site/embedthumbnail/custom/28638749?h=0&w=0" class="WikiMedia WikiMediaCustom" id="wikitext@@media@@type="custom" key="28638749"" title="Custom Media"/>

Lesson 1: We will review several rhythms we have used over the past few years through a few different activities. You will also begin to brainstorm some different rhythm patterns.

Lesson 2: We will bring some of our varied rhythm patterns together and discuss which patterns are more complex. You will be assigned your group for the Rhythm Scene and meet together to watch a video on where your scene should or shouldn't be. Your group will decide where your scene is going to occur before next class. Make sure to keep in mind that the classroom you picked should have a lot of different items you can use to create interesting sounds.

Lesson 3: Students will choose four objects from their classroom scene spot and assign one to each rhythm pattern. Students will take some time becoming confident with how their rhythm sounds with the other rhythms. The students will also practice layering the rhythms.

Lesson 4: Students will rehearse their scenes and make sure that the "everyday items" picked are working well together and all four rhythms can be heard evenly.

Lesson 5: Students will perform their scenes for the class. Students will also watch their performances and assess their scenes.
